How do I choose a service provider to create a cinerary space or memorial garden?

Under the law of December 19, 2008, which came into force on January1, 2013, communes with more than 2,000 inhabitants must equip themselves with a memorial garden.

The memorial garden is a collective space for scattering the ashes of the deceased, located in a cemetery.

The creation of this cinerary space requires the services of a service provider like Granimond.

How a memorial garden works

The cinerary plot is a small garden in which families scatter the ashes of their loved ones.

A scattering ceremony is organized by the funeral director. He returns the cinerary urn, which has been entrusted to him, to scatter the ashes in the garden of remembrance. Other solutions are also available. The disperser, for example, is a type of urn with a bottom that opens partially to disperse the ashes.

Scattering ashes in cemeteries is free of charge. It is, however, necessary to submit a request to the town hall of the cemetery concerned.

The garden of remembrance serves as a place of remembrance and meditation for families. An appropriate layout with a bench, a memorial stele (to identify the scattering space), a book of remembrance or memory support (specifying the identity of the deceased) and natural elements enhance the privacy of families.

The construction of this garden requires a service provider.

You can rely on Granimond's expertise when it comes to creating your burial space.

Choose Granimond to create your memorial garden

Thanks to our expertise in the cinerary field since 1989, we can support you in the creation of your memorial garden or an adapted cinerary space. Granimond has built cinerary sites in over 6,000 communes.

We create aesthetic, harmonious layouts to suit your community, while respecting the family's right to reflect.

For this purpose, we offer memorial gardens containing :

  • A space for scattering ashes: This is composed of a sump, quality white marble pebbles and often granite borders delimiting the space. Our spaces are harmonious and aesthetic thanks to their various shapes (hexagonal, octagonal, square, half-moon, with or without steps). We also supply granite surrounds that can be adapted to the shape and surface area of your choice. Our spaces integrate naturally with existing furniture. We have also created a sprinkler system for scattering ashes. This system, known as "Lacus-Regia is patented. Its name has been registered as a trademark with the INPI since May 2010. The space features a sprinkler system (its specificity), a sump, white marble pebbles and granite borders. The sprinkler system transports the ashes under the pebbles. They gently disappear from the garden of remembrance. An optical eye enables families to carry out this dignified gesture. They respectfully scatter the ashes of their loved ones.
  • Signage: To encourage families to pay their respects, our layouts include a stele with the words "jardin du souvenir" (remembrance garden) and a marking system specifying the identity of the deceased. We supply granite steles in harmonious, aesthetically pleasing shapes that blend into your site. Signage can also be characterized by a Book of Remembrance, a broken column or a Remembrance stele.
  • A remembrance basin: This granite basin is octagonal or rounded in shape. It is used to bury ashes. Its aesthetic, harmonious shape, small footprint and range of sizes mean it can be integrated into existing layouts, while an optional tamper-proof screw fitting protects the ashes of the deceased from damage.
  • Nameplates: We supply blank nameplates for engraving the names of the deceased. Families are free to choose the engraver.
